On 1 November 2020, after federal soldiers withdrew around noon, up to 60 armed and unarmed assailants attacked three kebeles and targeted ethnic Amhara residents, who were dragged from their homes to a school and killed. The official toll was 32; EHRC said the real number was very likely higher. Women and children were among the victims.
