Also reported by ONM from Qellem Wallega on 6 April is a ‘new form of looting’ experienced by Loomica village, Yamalogi Walal district. For three months or more they have been subjected to extortion, paying 10,000 birr per household for construction, road widening, party membership and ‘gonofa’ contribution. Now kebele officials and militia are going from house to house demanding ‘again in the name of health insurance.’
