Killing by police in Habro, West Hararghe (17 Feb 2025)

Inspector Wakuma Ayana (right), Deputy Police Chief of Habro district (Galamso town), West Hararge, was shot dead on 17 February. He was known to be critical of human rights abuses being perpetrated by local security forces. ‘He believed police shouldn't be the tools of the ruling political party but loyal to the constitution’ and was frequently at odds with district Prosperity Party Chairman, Abu Anshu and his senior commander ‘Asafa’ (E1).
