Detention in North Shewa (26 Jan 2025)

Three women among the 300 held in the open-air site died because of lack of shelter and water or food. Most of the 300 were released after a short period but at least 14 Gadaa leaders (some reports were of 20) and eight parents of children suspected of joining OLA, remained in detention. The place where the Gadaa leaders were held was not known for almost three weeks, until their release on 26 January.
