Detention by government forces in Horo Guduru Wollega (9 Jan 2025)

Over 200 workers at the Finchaa Sugar Factory in Horo Guduru were detained without trial or court order in the military compound in Sulula Finchaa 01 kebele in early December 2024 and remained in detention at least until 9 January. They were accused of farming illegally on factory grounds, where they had been farming to supplement their income for over a decade. About 5,000 quintals of crops were confiscated.
