On 1 November, ‘armed assailants’ killed 45-48, including the newlyappointed Wacale administrator, Nigussie Koru, along with ‘several government security personnel,’ when they were traveling to Kara district, North Showa to ‘monitor the security situation.’ The government and Ethiopian Human Rights Commission attributed the ambush to OLA but this was not confirmed. 36,37 Addis Standard reported that Sheikh Mohammed Makin Haj, the Imam of Arabian village mosque, Darra district, was killed on 2 November after being kidnapped by militants (Government Fano or Government OLA) for ransom on 18 October.
