The results of a confidential internal Ethiopian Health Ministry report were published in The Reporter on 10 August. OSG has received sporadic reports of deaths from malaria, especially in zones of Wallega (see below) but there is little available information overall. Although the worst months for malaria (September to December) are just beginning, The Reporter noted over four million cases of malaria so far in 2024, with 856 deaths in the 1,400 districts which are affected in Oromia, Amhara, South West, Southern and BenishangulGumuz regions.
