11 people killed by government forces in North Shewa (25 Jun 2024)

Just as in reprisals in Oromia Region, 11 innocent civilians were killed on 25 June by ENDF firing indiscriminately in Adet town, North Gojjam, after heavy losses against Fano. In Shola Meda, North Showa, 15 were shot dead when collecting fertiliser on 27 June. Soldiers broke into a store killing seven farmers collecting fertiliser and into a café, killing another eight, including a 14 year-old boy. Kidnappings for ransom by armed groups and government affiliated militia are an increasing problem, especially for travellers on passenger buses. Up to one million Birr is being demanded for the return of loved ones.
