4 people killed by Oromia special forces in Bishoftu, East Shewa (20 Feb 2024)

Addis Standard reported that four Ethiopian Orthodox priests were abducted from Zequala Abune Gebre Menfes Kidus Monastery in East Showa, about 30 km southwest of Bishoftu by ‘armed militants’ on 20 February and killed. Oromia Regional authorities blamed ‘OLFShane’. The OLF denounced the killings and called for an independent investigation and full cooperation from OLA. On 27 February, OMN reported the mass displacement of Karrayyu by Fano from two kebeles, Haroo Qarsa and Halaka, in Fantale district one week previously, on 20 February. Over 233 homes were burnt down and four villagers were killed. The other inhabitants had fled.
