EHRC monitored Burayu, Gelan and Sebeta police departments from 10 to 19 March 2022. Six OLF party leaders held at Burayu, plus others held at federal police and an Oromia special police camp in Gelan, had been detained since 2020 or 2021. Courts acquitted or bailed several and prosecutors ordered releases, but the Oromia Police Commission did not comply and moved detainees between more than 12 sites, including as far as Borana.
