Torture / ill-treatment by government militia in East Bale (28 Jun 2026)

Over 5,000 internally displaced Oromo who had settled in Gobu kebele, Goro district, East Bale, after fleeing from other parts of Oromia Region, were reported by ONM on 28 June to have been again uprooted. Local government cadres were taking away by force the land which they were cultivating and handing it over to non-local ‘pro-regime loyalists.’ Those who protested were beaten, accused of being OLA supporters and detained.
