The image was generated using artificial intelligence (AI). An i mage circulated on social media on the day of the 1 June 2026 election, claiming to show citizens abducted by “ Shene ,” a term used by the Ethiopian government to refer to the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), being escorted to polling stations to vote before returning to captivity. The verification found that the widely circulated image is satirical and does not represent a real-life incident.
