Abduction / extortion / forced conscription by government forces in East Wollega (Jun 2026)

Theft and extortion were not limited to cash. Three farmers in Horo Bulluq, between them, had three oxen and 35 sheep taken by government forces in June. Local cadres and militia stole 17 cattle, worth one million birr, from Kiisii Ittaanaa in Jardega Jaarte district. Three years previously, 20 cattle, 34 sheep and three million birr were stolen from his father. Their grain store was destroyed, his father killed and his home was burned down.
