Shumana was badly injured when beaten and disappeared in detention. Dabalaa was detained and reportedly tortured. Their neighbours told ONM that they had no political affiliation. ONM wrote that the abduction of three youths (Damee, Damee Daawwitii and Mika’el) from Dembi Dollo city on 22 May was done primarily ‘to intimidate families of activists.’ Membership of the government Prosperity Party is no protection.
