Sexual violence by government forces in West Wollega (16 May 2026)

At about 9.00 p.m. on 16 May in Haru district, West Wallega, government soldiers abducted two young women from their family home in Qakkii Adaree kebele and took them to a forest area called Gaddii, where they were gang-raped by 11 soldiers until 4.00 a.m. next morning. They were then taken to the military camp in Haru town, where they were denied medical care (ONM).
