As well as detention and threat of detention, physical violence and intimidation at the end of a gun are being used to extort sums of money from residents in East and West Hararge. Districts reported by ONM to be affected in May and June included, in West Hararge; Ciro, Habro, Gumbi Bordode, Shanan Dugo and Oda Bultum districts, and in East Hararge: Meta, Deder, Bedeno and Haramaya districts.
