The worst injustices included the violent acquisition of land from farmers so it could be handed over to private investors. ONM reported on 10 April that more than eight farmers were shot at and severely beaten in Roorettii, Oda Bultum district, West Hararge, when their land was seized by government cadres. ONM reported more land seizures were ongoing on 25 May in Daro Labu district, West Hararge.
