Residents of Kiremu district in East Wollega Zone of the Oromia region say the security situation has steadily deteriorated over the past five months, forcing many to flee their homes. Residents who spoke to Addis Standard said the insecurity has been exacerbated by the presence and movements of Fano armed groups in the area. Local officials of Kiremu district, confirmed to Addis Standard that more than one thousand people have been displaced in recent incidents linked to armed violence.
