- West Wollega
Commercial activity is stunted or absent throughout southwest Oromia. In Begi district, as in several districts of West Wallega, the army presence ‘deployed from different camps to people’s homes every day . . . is preventing civilians from working’ (ONM, 6 September). In Dabo district, Buno Bedele, villagers are prevented from visiting markets. Soldiers beat villagers attending the market in Tulama town and threatened to kill them if they ‘went to any town after this’ (ONM, 21 September).
